Universities are ideal spaces for managing communication processes in terms of human development. Since their emergence and with the passage of time, they have legitimized their relevance and have evolved, adjusting their course to social demands. In this sense, the University of Havana is an international center of reference that has been characterized by promoting scientific development with the aim, not only of preparing future professionals in better conditions, but also of enabling the classrooms to make significant contributions to society. And that, to a certain extent, represents an exercise in training, but also in knowing how to combine different specialties in the same project. Within this context is the School of Communication, which has been characterized as a space that promotes exchange and local development through research projects that undoubtedly contribute to the social improvement of the country. Hence, with the creation of its own radio and television teaching department and the conditions it requires, initiatives have been further strengthened to create programs and content of interest to citizens from the university. The research presents, in general terms, the experience of Nexos Canal at the University of Havana in the five years since its creation as a university media outlet. Conceived as a space with and from the students, in coordination with the rest of the extension and institutional communication structures that are deployed in the center of higher studies in Cuba.
