Abstract

Background Suicidal behavior associated with the antiepileptic drug levetiracetam increases the risk of suicidal thoughts or tendencies, these patients should be monitored to detect the appearance or worsening of factors such as depression, suicidal ideation or unusual changes in behavior Objectives: To put at risk. day the information available in the medical literature about the little-known adverse effect of suicidal ideation or tendency due to the drug levetiracetam. Material and methods: In the present study, a
systematic review of the literature was carried out, in which the data of the studies published, from the year 2000 to the present date, were analyzed in the context of the topic investigated. Results Once the articles have been selected after application of inclusion and exclusion criteria, 21 were selected in this way that were useful to carry out this research, finding that suicidal tendency is related to the use of the drug Levetiracetam as antiepileptic treatmennt.
conclusion After examining the existing studies, the causal relationship of levetiracetam on suicidality in patients suffering from epilepsy is observed
