Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify management techniques and their effect on cocoa (Theobroma cacao L) production in La Rivera to move towards agroecological production. The case study method was used through a qualitative research approach, incorporating participatory methods and tools. Five cocoa production units were selected, with organic management and others moving towards the transition process. Critical points were identified in each case, such as productivity, challenges faced and the entire process. For the interpretation of the information, the Atlas ti qualitative data analysis software was used. In the analysis for the organic case, higher sustainability results were obtained as a result of the integral agroecological management of the knowledge and skills of the producers acquired through technical assistance.
