Introduction: Noise pollution was identified as a significant environmental and occupational problem affecting occupational health and quality of life of workers. This phenomenon, generated by industrial activities, was highlighted as a critical risk at the ADELCA steel plant in Machachi, Ecuador. Excessive noise caused by machinery and equipment caused negative effects, such as hearing damage, psychological alterations and cardiovascular problems. The research pointed to the need to assess and control noise levels to ensure a safer and more sustainable work environment.
Development: The study analyzed how noise pollution influenced the physical and mental health of ADELCA's employees. Despite the company's leading position in recycling and steel manufacturing, it was found that insufficient measures had been implemented to mitigate occupational risks. This resulted in noncompliance with environmental regulations and conflicts with nearby communities. Proposed solutions included acoustic insulation materials, periodic monitoring, and restructuring of operational processes to reduce the impact of noise.
Conclusions: The research concluded that addressing noise pollution is crucial to protect worker health and improve community relations. This analysis underscored the importance of taking corrective action as a basis for sustainable industrial development. It also provided a replicable model for other industries facing similar challenges, promoting corporate social responsibility and a balance between productivity and environmental well-being
