Background: Perinatal Asphyxia is a clinical condition characterized by a failure in the fetal gas exchange system caused by an interruption of placental flow. It can occur in the prepartum period (4-20% of cases), Intrapartum (56-80%) or Immediate postpartum periods (10%). In addition to neurological and neurobehavioral compromise, It Is associated with high morbidity and mortality in term and preterm neonates. Until now, there Is no effective therapeutic strategy to reduce the effects produced by Perinatal Asphyxia. In the clinic, therapeutic hypothermia has been Implemented as a neuroprotective treatment, but only with partial effects. The objective of this present systematic review is to provide information on the new therapeutics for the treatment of Perinatal Asphyxia. Material and Methods: A systematic review of the literature available in the electronic databases was carried out, selecting through the Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria the scientific articles available and relevant to the established topic. Results: 44 articles met the Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria proposed in this present systematic review of the literature. Conclusion: The analysis carried out exposes the need for new therapeutic interventions. Advances have been made both at the level of basic research in animal models and early clinical studies, testing some of the new research. More research Is needed to advance in this direction, especially in the line of translational research
